Chinese New Year

On Thursday we had our belated annual Chinese New Year Assembly. This year in celebration of the year of the dog, we explored the beliefs of the Miao people (one of the 55 minority ethic groups in China) and the story was about how a dog married a princess. The Mandarin department worked in collaboration with the Drama department and a group of Y12 drama students took on the performance and brought the play alive. It was funny yet informative.

Another highlight of the day was the much anticipated Chinese banquet. The dining room was nicely decorated with Chinese banners, lanterns and table decorations bearing Chinese ‘lucky’ characters. There was such a buzz amongst students and staff, and we can’t wait for next year’s production!

It was a combined Westholme effort to make the day so memorable, with special thanks to Miss Roberts, Mrs Green, Mr Bramwell and the whole catering team.
