When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road towards the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and en route they meet a Scarecrow that needs a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage. The wizard asks the group to bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West to earn his help.
The cast of Westholme students were transformed into the key characters of this well-known story. Fabulous costumes accompanied classic musical pieces – who could fail not to shed a tear when the iconic, ‘Over the Rainbow’ song was performed by Dorothy? The audience were transported to the land of Oz complete with characters including the munchkins, Glinda the Good Witch, The Wicked Witch and the Wizard.
The characterisation of these popular roles was convincing; each scene was captivating from the journey down the Yellow Brick Road to the arrival at Emerald City and everything inbetween.
Congratulations to the extremely talented students whose wonderful acting and singing made them true stars of the Westholme stage. Thanks to the whole production team for another marvellous Westholme performance.
